Quilts - Near and Far.

I'll be dropping off my quilts off to be exhibited at the Springwood Quilt Community Show soon and still have to sew the labels on...I always intend  to do it earlier but somehow I put it off to the last minute... In fact I seem to remember last year I was sewing a label on in the car on the way to deliver them ! I don't know why I don't like sewing labels on. For a moment it crossed my mind to just staple them on. lol.

Gbf and I are helping to hang the quilts this afternoon. Excellent organisation by the committee and lots of enthusiastic volunteers will ensure the job of hanging 190 quilts will go smoothly.

Here's a photo from a previous year ...

So if you're in the neighbourhood make sure you stop by, it's always a great show with lots of fabulous quilts and great stalls with tempting fabric goodies.

Fri 26th - Sun 28th April.    Open 10am - 4pm each day
Springwood High School. Grose Rd. Faulconbridge

Talking of hanging quilts,  my brother Adam sent me these photos from Jerusalem .

Of course I love those colours and crazy piecing!

Adam is a musician and it takes him to all sorts of wonderful places far and wide.. He's off to Italy next and will keep an eye out for quilts for us there. How fun to have a roaming reporter. Who knows what wonderful quilts we'll see from around the world.

Love those colourful crazy quilts. I know what you mean about quilt labels - not good at adding them either! Look forward to seeing your work at the show :)

Have fun hanging the quilts. I'm going to have to make a trip to NSW next year so I can come and see them.
Love that your brother sends you pics of quilts he finds in his travels.

Have fun hanging the quilts. I have helped with that job at shows and it is so nice to have the first glimpse of the quilts. Funny, I too hate doing labels. I know I should do it but rarely do unless I am entering a show. Silly really!

What fun! I know you're going to inspire and be inspired at the show.

Brothers that "get it" are the best, aren't they? Thank you to Adam for sending the pictures.

I wish I was in the neighborhood! I am also doing some last minute sewing of sleeves, why didn't I do it when I finished them?
I do not like doing labels either. My little secret is that I write all the information on the back with a Sharpie pen! Iron over it and it is there forever and no one can remove the label if they steal it.

I wish I was closer ..I definitely drop in!

I put off putting on labels too ...I dont know why!

Looks like a fun exhibition! I hated sewing the labels and flipping hanging sleeve onto my one for this weekend, I hope it's worth it!

So many beautiful quilts! I wish I lived close enough to see them in person. I'll just admire all of the pictures for now =D

hahaha...I probably would have stapled or safety pinned my label on =P

Rachael, I hate the labels too. I'm a Winmalee girl, I have one quilt at the show. But it was the rod hanger that I was sewing on the night before (hate them too). I never know how to do the label. this year I embroidered them in back stitch, but I had a look at the show and noticed a lot are printed. Maybe you could show us how you do yours?
