Here, there and everywhere.
Thanks for being patient with me while I've been absent, I could give you a zillion excuses but they don't really matter. Today is a new day. The sun is shining through the trees, The birds are happily chirping, and here I sit writing a blog post.
Could it be that my mojo dry spell has broken and I’m back in the world of blogging??? Gosh, I hope so.
It’s funny how real life just takes over sometimes.
I love blogging, I really do...
It’s a place to show and tell, to be a bit playful, to add some colour to the world, hopefully make a few people smile.
It’s a place to show and tell, to be a bit playful, to add some colour to the world, hopefully make a few people smile.
It’s a great reason to take photographs, incentive to be creative and tell a few tales,
Most importantly it’s a way to connect with others, to say a friendly g’day with a cheery wave.
And I will keep blogging but it seems there are some other ways to say hello that I’ve been ignoring.
Yes, it’s about time this old dog learnt a few new tricks.
So better late than never, Facebook- Here I come!

I don’t know what the etiquette is so any tips are welcome, things like how often should I post? do I reply to comments?
Of course I’d love it if you followed me to cheer me on and keep me company as I stumble, fumble, and bumble my way through.

I'm also hoping to play around with instagram too
but I’ve got to face my fear of hash tags first.

As for being crafty - I’ve only had time to do little bits of sewing here and there. I’ve sorted through my quilt tops and made a big pile that I’ve accepted that I’ll never get around to quilting myself. They’ll be going off to a longarm quilter to have their merry stitches added.
In the evenings, when I get a free moment or two I’ve been hand quilting a vintage top that came into my life a few years ago. Easy breezy big pearl thread stitches wandering around like little fairy footsteps across the fabric.
I'll be back here with more soon, or maybe I'll catch up with you at Facebook or instagram. :)

sometimes you just need a break away........hang in here as I won't be seeing you on the "darkside"......
ReplyDeleteCan't hide from me...following here, on Facebook AND IG! Hashtags aren't scary! If you don't want to use them, don't!
ReplyDeleteI hope all is well at Chez Daisy. You are always a treat worth waiting for.
ReplyDeleteI already follow you on Instagram (all 18 posts) but shan't be venturing on to Facebook -- one trick this old dog refuses to learn.
mwah
Good Morning RAchael.....lovely to see you again and even lovelier to be able to catch up with you on FB and Insta!
ReplyDeleteI'm on Facebook too, (friend request sent) and already follow you on IG, I can't quite get to grips with hashtags but as Suz said you don't have to use them, or you can make up your own ones :)
ReplyDeleteYour blogs are worth the wait. Spring, always worth the wait, is on its way (--or fall, in my case)! Keep on quiltin'--and creatin'. Cwoosley12@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteGood Morning and welcome back. A break is often needed and no reasons are needed. Haven't ventured onto Instagram-in fact hardly use my phone but am on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteHi, Rachael. Glad to see you're still at it. Your thoughts are interesting on "keeping up". I don't find Facebook particularly interesting, but, unfortunately there are rumors out there that blogging may be losing ground. Alas, it is an ever-changing world!
ReplyDeleteBest, nadia
Keep blogging along, we all need a little break....I'm on facebook so I'll look for you, not really into Instagram lol
ReplyDeleteHappy to see your smiling face and colorful post today.
ReplyDeleteAlways the fun looking pictures! You have a great way of making your blog posts worth waiting for.:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Hello ..... Those of us who don't blog everyday we get that there is lots of Life to live behind the blog. It is hard to be everything all the time. It is just nice to keep in touch with what is happening as time allows. I keep thinking I should make a new blog post but the garden veggies won't quit calling my name.
ReplyDeleteIt is my life right now... Not too exciting. Soon that season will be over. Maybe then.
Love your Sweet little love letters : )
Happy day to you ,
Janita
OH! You've given me a great idea with some fabric I just turned into a quilt top! I bought it as pieced yardage...off the bolt like that. It's red, white and blue starts and stripes hearts. I hade cut eit in have and then sewed the halves together to make a quilt top. It's wonky as all get out, but I liked the fabric. I will sandwich it, baste it and sit like you are doing and hand stich quilt it. I have lots of "off brand" embroidery thread that I won't use for cross stich or embroidery so I can use up all the red, white and blue ones. Thanks!!! I got so off your topic!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you back. My blog suffers, because I get busy with life. It happens to the best of us. Just pop in and say hi once in a while if you aren't feeling the blogging, so we know you are okay though! But since you are taking up Facebook...Etiquette...in my mind...no politics, or religion, no people bashing (Like you would ever do that!) Comment if you feel it, like it if you do, and just enjoy it! There are no real rules to you Have to say anything or do anything... enough of my soap box. I'll be loking for you on facebook!
That was supposed to be hearts not starts...egads!
ReplyDeleteHi Rachael i will pop over and follow you on both but i am starting to steer away from FB and IG as i find i am spending to much time on the computer and i need more sewing time,it feels strange but i need to do it,lol, good luck with it all my friend xx
ReplyDeleteInstagram too!?! Oh I am so excited. Off to follow you now!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you back! Yes, life gets busy and we all understand that. I haven't been too good with posting either. I do it when I can.
ReplyDeleteI sent a friend request on FB. I don't check all the time, but some. I haven't tried Instagram yet. Seems like lots of blogger folks are doing that now.
Love you big stitching!
Been missing your creativity Rachael! Glad you are back.
ReplyDeleteHi Rachael, I just followed you on Instagram, I am a total IG addict and I think you're going to love it when you get into it. Just follow a bunch of people (take a look at who the people you are following follow and you will see lots of familiar names). Then just post lots of WIP photos. IG gives folks a chance to get involved with what you are making in a more immediate, intimate way than blogs. I still love writing my blog though! I am also on facebook but tend to keep this more for friends and family as I have a business page -bearpawcraftclasses - where all the crafty stuff happens! Hope to see you around at all these places!
ReplyDeleteHi Rachael! I do very little on facebook but welcome! :) Good to see your beautiful face and art. :) And, hey, it's all about ebb and flow. Chill, life is good. :)
ReplyDelete~ Christina
Looking forward to seeing you on IG as well as back here on the blog. Lots of quilts yet to be shared by the sound of it!
ReplyDeleteOh Rachael! You said it so well! Life does get in the way and sometimes we simply can't do it all! It's good that most folks are understanding and can go with the flow...or lack thereof. I will add you to my FB list and look for you on IG! Can't wait to see what is coming!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you are back posting on your blog. I have missed you! No Facebook for me, I'm afraid or Instagram. So please make sure you keep your blog going. Looking forward to seeing what you will be making next.
ReplyDeleteI will follow you anywhere to see your beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteYay she's baaaaaack, and I for one am glad!
ReplyDeleteSee you on fb. Like the new profile picture!
ReplyDeleteLovely and welcome back all refreshed :) Sorry I won't be following you on face book or IG.........NOT because I don't like you/love your stuff but I am swamped and i'll just be happy with your blog. Good luck with your new endeavors and i like your idea for the vintage quilt top. cool!
ReplyDeleteGo tell it on the mountain...She is back!!! So happy!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to blogging. Not that I noticed you weren't but I haven't been blogging either as we moved house and only got our internet on yesterday! I love Facebook (friend request sent) and have really missed it, not on Instagram yet though. I think I'll be more likely to do that when I've upgraded to a modern phone from my crusty old Nokia though! I'm an admin on a great Aussies only quilting Facebook page. Let me know if you're interested in joining!
ReplyDeleteWell done you with the joining. Still haven't got the face going but I will be seeing you on the Instagram.
ReplyDeleteChe bello trovarti su fb!
ReplyDeleteYay Rachael - you are back :-) And so happy to be your friend on Facebook too! I have been loving working with the Gardenvale fabric you sent me - very slow progress but lots of fun. And I went to the button shop again and thought of you - I need to send you some photos! xx
ReplyDeleteIve just sent you a facebook friend request.
ReplyDeleteI dont think there is any etiquette on the book of faces.
Post when you want with what every you want to post. I might not post for months then do three posts in a day.
Comment if you feel like it.
If you dont like what people are posting unfriend them, they wont be notified and probably wont notice anyway. I've unfriended people who alway post raciest, homophobic and just generally negative stuff all the time and I feel so much better for it.
Just enjoy it. You can always delete your account if you dont like it.
I'll check out your instagram next time I'm on my phone.
Good luck with FB and IG! I'll be one of those old school types, waiting for your blog posts (no matter how infrequent). And of course, wishing you nothing but good things and creative ideas as you find the right mix of social media.
ReplyDeleteYay so glad you are back! That is wonderful you are trying new things. I don't use Facebook but I already follow you on Instagram. :) I'm looking forward to seeing the quilts you sent off to be longarmed. That's such a great way to get them off the wip list!
ReplyDeleteI can't help you with FB or IG, not on either; there just aren't enough hours in the day, but I hope you will come back to see us here :-)
ReplyDeletexx
I'm not brave enough to try instagram, lol - although I do have a fb page for my designs! I do try to reply to every comment, and I don't post very often.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back after your little break. Sometimes it is what is needed. Have fun on Facebook and Instagram. I haven't ventured to either as I think I would just spend even more time on line, so don't want the temptation. Enjoy your quilting of the vintage top.
ReplyDeleteOooH, good luck with Facebook - I'm not a fan. I do love Instagram though!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for leaving me a comment. Your kind words encourage me to keep sharing my work and stories.
